A new survey in the United States found that many young people are using money meant for investing to bet on sports. The survey of 1,000 retail investors showed that 52% of Generation Z investors have placed a sports bet with investment funds in the past year. Also, 26% of them said that sports betting is part of their long-term financial plans, much higher than older Americans.

This is happening because sports betting has become much easier after the Supreme Court allowed it in 2018. Now, many states allow people to bet on sports using mobile phone apps.

As a result, the line between investing and gambling is becoming less clear for many young people. More of them are treating betting as a way to try to grow their money, instead of just entertainment.
