Demon Hunter Sues Netflix Over KPop Demon Hunters Name
Follow spoken words in real time.
A Christian heavy metal band from Seattle called Demon Hunter is suing Netflix over the name of its popular animated film, KPop Demon Hunters. The band says people are confusing their music group with the Netflix movie, especially as the film becomes more famous and offers concerts, music, and merchandise.
Demon Hunter says there is confusion because both use similar names, and Netflix is now entering areas where the band has worked for many years. One person bought $500 in concert tickets by mistake, thinking they were for a family-friendly K-pop show instead of the metal band’s event.
Because of this, Demon Hunter and its company Hyde Lane want a court to stop Netflix from using "KPop Demon Hunters" for music, concerts, and merchandise. The band also wants money for damages. The case will now be decided by the court.
