Sonny Rollins, a famous tenor saxophonist, has died at the age of 95 at his home in Woodstock, New York. He was one of the last important musicians from the bebop and hard bop jazz eras. His work changed the way the saxophone is played in jazz music.
Rollins was born in Harlem in 1930. He started his professional career in the late 1940s and worked with other well-known jazz musicians, such as Miles Davis and John Coltrane. His 1956 album, Saxophone Colossus, is an important part of jazz history.
During his long career, Rollins received awards like the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. Later, he stopped performing because of health problems. Many musicians still study his style and remember him for his strong influence on jazz.
