Revolutionary cell therapy trial shows success in treating aggressive cancers
Follow spoken words in real time.
Clinical trials have shown strong results for a new cancer treatment called CAR T-cell therapy. This treatment changes a patient’s own immune cells to help them find and destroy cancer. It has helped some people, such as actor Sam Neill, who had a severe blood cancer that did not respond to usual treatment.
CAR T-cell therapy uses special white blood cells taken from the patient. These are changed in the laboratory so they can attack cancer cells. After they return to the body, the new cells fight the cancer for a long time.
These results are important because they offer hope for people with aggressive blood cancers. Medical experts believe CAR T-cell therapy could help more patients in the future if the treatment becomes easier and cheaper to use worldwide.
