Terminally ill campaigners and Rankin urge revival of assisted dying bill
Follow spoken words in real time.
A new campaign called "Time to Back the Bill Again" has started in the UK. Photographer Rankin and the group Dignity in Dying are working with people who have terminal illnesses. The campaign asks Members of Parliament to support a law that would give terminally ill adults more choice at the end of life.
The campaign includes short films of eight people aged 19 to 77. These people talk about their experiences with serious illness. Their stories show the reasons why some people want more control over how and when they die.
The new campaign comes after the former bill did not pass in the House of Lords, even though it passed in the House of Commons. Supporters hope the bill will soon be discussed again. The campaign also points out that many people in the UK want Parliament to keep working on this issue.
