Jacob Coxon, an artificial intelligence (AI) researcher, has left the US company Anthropic. He says he is worried that companies are making AI systems more powerful too quickly. Coxon believes this competition could be dangerous for humanity. He posted on X, a social media site, explaining that companies like Anthropic and another US company called OpenAI want to create artificial superintelligence. This means AI that can do tasks much better than humans in many areas.

Coxon left his job because he thinks that moving too quickly to build stronger AI is risky. He says these new AI systems might one day do things like advanced hacking or scientific research without much help from people. Some researchers, including Coxon, believe that very advanced AI could become a threat to human safety. This idea is not agreed on by everyone in the AI industry.

After Coxon left Anthropic, there has been more talk about the dangers of powerful AI. Other companies and governments are now considering new rules and ways to keep AI safe. Coxon says he wants companies to slow down and work together to solve these problems.
