Could Healthier Diets Help Fight Climate Change?

A new study from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, working with researchers from many countries, says that better eating habits could greatly help the environment. The study found that if people around the world start eating more vegetables, fruits, beans and nuts, and less beef and lamb, pollution from farms could fall by 85% by 2050.
This could happen because animals like cattle, sheep, and goats create a lot of greenhouse gases, which cause climate change. They also need large areas of land, which leads to cutting down forests for grazing.
If more people eat plant-based foods, farmers would need fewer animals and could grow more fruit and vegetables. This change could help protect forests and slow down climate change, according to the study’s scientists.
