Nissan cuts model range and expands AI plans
Follow spoken words in real time.
Nissan plans to reduce its global vehicle models from 56 to 45 to improve business and focus on stronger products. The company also wants to add AI driving technology to 90% of its cars in the future. This decision is part of a larger trend, as car manufacturers try to simplify and invest more in new technology.
For the 2030 financial year, Nissan has set new targets. It aims to sell 1 million cars each year in both the US and China, and 550,000 cars in Japan. Nissan also hopes to increase exports from China to other areas, such as Latin America and the Middle East.
In the US, Nissan wants to make 80% of its cars locally instead of about 60% now. The company also plans to improve its luxury brand, Infiniti, and release a new small car series in Japan from 2028. More information is expected in its next full-year report.
