US Bans DeepSeek AI from Civilian Government Systems
Follow spoken words in real time.
The United States government has banned the use of DeepSeek technology in its civilian federal agencies. DeepSeek is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool made by a Chinese company, which can answer questions quickly for users. On 19 October, the Department of Homeland Security said that all government agencies must stop using DeepSeek and remove other software that includes its technology.
The most important reason for this decision is security. US officials are worried that using DeepSeek could send private information to servers in China. They also believe that DeepSeek may collect personal data and could have security problems that make it risky for government use.
Because of this ban, federal agencies must now check all of their software to make sure it does not use DeepSeek technology, even if the software is sold under another name. The new rule does not stop private citizens from using DeepSeek, but it makes government organisations more careful about the software they buy and use.
