CNN founder and media mogul Ted Turner dies aged 87

Ted Turner, who created the first 24-hour news channel, died at age 87 at his home in Florida. He had Lewy body dementia since 2018, according to his family. Turner started Cable News Network (CNN) in 1980, which changed the way news is reported around the world.
He also built an entertainment business with other TV channels like TBS and Cartoon Network. His company joined with Time Warner in a large business deal in 1996. Turner was also known for owning sports teams and supporting the environment.
Turner gave large donations to charity, including a $1 billion pledge to the United Nations. His work in news, sports, and international issues made him an important and well-known figure. A public memorial service will be announced later.
