England won their first World Cup bronze medal after beating France 6–4 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup third-place playoff. The match took place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, and was the highest-scoring third-place playoff in World Cup history. Bukayo Saka scored three goals, called a hat-trick, and Jude Bellingham added another goal for England.
England started the match strongly and quickly scored four goals in the first half. France found it difficult to stop England’s fast attacks and strong finishing, and this early lead put England in control of the game.
Because of this win, England finished third in the tournament for the first time and left with a bronze medal. France’s player Kylian Mbappé also scored two goals in the match and became the highest goalscorer in World Cup history.
