Microsoft Puts 6,000 Engineers into Client Offices to Fix AI’s Profit Problem
Follow spoken words in real time.
Microsoft is investing $2.5 billion in a new group called Microsoft Frontier Company. This team will send about 6,000 engineers and data experts to work inside customer companies. Their job is to help businesses use artificial intelligence (AI) tools with their own data and software, instead of just selling a general AI service.
Many companies have had trouble showing that AI actually saves money or improves how they work. Often, business data is spread across many different systems, which makes it hard to use AI effectively.
The result is that Microsoft’s engineers will now work closely with each client. They will help connect data systems, design special AI tools, and teach staff how to use them. Microsoft says this will make AI much more useful for companies.
