Follow spoken words in real time.
Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup in East Rutherford, New Jersey, by beating Argentina 1–0 after extra time. Ferran Torres, a player who started on the bench, scored the only goal in the 106th minute. The match was played at MetLife Stadium with many excited fans watching.
Spain won because Argentina had to play the last part of extra time with only ten players, after Enzo Fernández received a second yellow card and was sent off. Spain then attacked more and finally scored after a cross from Pedro Porro and a pass from Nico Williams.
As a result, Spain became world champions for the second time, 16 years after first winning the title. The Spanish players celebrated their victory, and many believe this is the start of a new successful football era for Spain.
