The USS Abraham Lincoln, a large American Navy ship powered by nuclear energy, arrived at Laem Chabang port in Thailand on Wednesday. This ship, with around 5,000 sailors and Marines, stayed at sea for 286 days without stopping at any port. The ship came to Thailand for five days so the crew can rest near the city of Pattaya after their long journey.

The ship left San Diego, in the United States, in November 2025 and was sent to the South China Sea. Later, it was moved to the Middle East because there was more conflict involving Iran. This change in plans made the deployment much longer than usual, making it one of the longest trips in modern U.S. Navy history.

Because of this long time at sea, the crew had difficult days and needed a break. The visit is important because it helps the sailors recover, and it also shows the close relationship between the United States and Thailand. The USS Abraham Lincoln will leave Thailand on Sunday after the crew’s rest.
