An oil tanker called Trend was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a very important waterway for ships carrying oil. The ship is registered in Togo, a country in West Africa. Iran said its military group, the Revolutionary Guard, attacked the tanker because they said it was trying to pass through the Strait without their permission. This waterway is used by ships from many countries to transport oil and gas to the rest of the world.

The main reason for the attack is that Iran wants to control which ships can pass through this area. Iran says that all ships must get its approval before they travel through the Strait of Hormuz. This place is important because about one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas goes through here. There are not many other ways for large amounts of oil to get out of the region by ship.

After the attack, fewer ships are now travelling through the Strait of Hormuz. Some ships are also turning off their tracking systems, trying not to be seen. Shipping companies are worried about the safety of their crews and cargo. Because of this, oil prices could go up, and people might have to pay more for fuel and other goods around the world.
