Popular Japanese bread brand, Pasco, is facing a major recall and refund after a shocking discovery. A rat’s remains were found in some of its sliced white bread packets, leading to the withdrawal of around 104,000 packs from shelves. This incident has sparked concern among consumers, as Pasco bread is a household staple and a common sight in supermarkets and convenience stores across Japan.
Despite the alarming discovery, no illnesses have been reported so far. Pasco has issued an apology to its customers and stated that the affected products were manufactured at a factory in Tokyo, where production has been halted. The company is working to improve its quality control measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Affected customers can claim refunds through a form on Pasco’s website. Notably, Pasco’s products are also exported to countries like the US, China, Australia, and Singapore. This incident highlights the rarity of food recalls in Japan, known for its stringent sanitation standards. However, recent food-related health scares in the country have raised concerns about product safety.
