Teen Talk Show Created by NOLA Drama Teacher Anthony Bean

Anthony Bean is a well-known figure in New Orleans theater. He has a teen TV talk show called “What’s Going On” that talks about important issues like racism and mental health. The show airs on My54-WUPL. Bean’s theater works with young people, teaching them acting and discussing Black culture. He has won awards for his work, including the 2024 WYES Celeste Seymour Judell Arts Award. Bean founded the Anthony Bean Community Theater and Acting School in 2000. His students learn acting techniques that focus on emotions and authenticity. Many students have gained confidence and skills at his theater. Bean believes in investing in young people and giving them opportunities. His goal is to support and uplift the voices of New Orleans youth through the arts.
