Eggs are very expensive in the United States right now. Many grocery stores are limiting how many eggs you can buy. Stores like Aldi, Kroger, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart are setting these limits.
Some grocery stores make rules for each store, while others have rules for all stores. Trader Joe’s lets you buy only one dozen eggs each day. Walmart allows only two 60-count egg packages per visit.
Trader Joe’s said these limits will help more customers buy eggs.
Kroger does not have a nationwide limit but some stores ask people to buy only two dozen eggs at a time.
The price of eggs went up to $4.95 for a dozen in January. Prices may go up more before Easter.
Many birds were killed because of bird flu. This is why there are fewer eggs now.
Since 2022, around 158 million birds have been killed.
