Krafton’s new open-world game, Project Windless, has been unveiled for PlayStation 5, although it faces stiff competition from established titles like God of War. Despite this, the game, inspired by the popular South Korean high fantasy novel series Bird That Drinks Tears, has generated considerable interest.
Project Windless is set a thousand years before the events of the four novels, which feature a unique world inhabited by four main races: humans, the reptilian Nhaga, the Tokkebi, and the bird-like Rekon. The game’s protagonist is a muscly Rekon character, exemplifying their “speed, reach, and physical presence.” These traits fit well with the game’s core concept of “one-versus-many combat.”
According to the PlayStation Blog, Project Windless aims to offer an experience with minimal guidance, sparking curiosity and encouraging players to take risks. Players will be able to forge alliances, engage in battles, and shape their own legendary narratives. The combat system promises to be similar to Dynasty Warriors, allowing players to combat dozens or even hundreds of enemies concurrently.
Currently, Project Windless is under development exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. At this stage, there is no confirmed release date or information about other platforms. As the development progresses, fans will be keenly awaiting updates on gameplay features and potential launch details.
