Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Face Lawsuit Over Film
Follow spoken words in real time.
Two police officers from South Florida have started a legal case against actors Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. They say a new Netflix film called The Rip makes people think badly about them because it is too similar to a real police case.
The officers work for the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. They say the film shows events that are very close to a 2016 drug case they worked on, even though it does not use their names. They say this has hurt their reputations at work and in their personal lives.
The officers want money for damages and a public correction from the filmmakers. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s company says the film is clearly fiction. Netflix is not part of the legal case.
