AI Helps Doctors Save Time, but Training Gap Remains
Follow spoken words in real time.
A new global survey by Philips has shown that artificial intelligence (AI) is helping doctors and nurses save time and care for more patients. The Future Health Index survey collected answers from over 2,000 healthcare professionals and 20,000 patients in 10 countries, showing that AI is now common in hospitals and clinics. AI is used for jobs like writing notes, scheduling, and even checking X-rays and drug interactions.
However, most healthcare professionals said they do not receive enough training to use AI tools in their workplace. About 70% reported training was unavailable or limited, and many use personal AI tools when work systems are not enough.
Although AI can support healthcare, many professionals believe it is important to keep humans involved in medical decisions. The survey also found that most doctors and nurses want every AI result to be checked by a human. Experts say better training is needed as AI use grows in healthcare.
