A new Danish study found no evidence that taking Tylenol during pregnancy increases the risk of autism in children. The study looked at data from over 1.5 million children born between 1997 and 2022. It compared children exposed to Tylenol during pregnancy to children who were not exposed and found similar rates of autism in both groups.

Researchers adjusted their analysis for different factors, including how much Tylenol was taken and the stage of pregnancy. Their results support some recent studies, but are different from others which suggest there might be a link.

This topic is part of a bigger debate in the United States. In September 2025, the FDA started a process to add a warning about possible risks of acetaminophen during pregnancy. The new Danish study will likely become important in discussions about these medical warnings.
