Sean Baker’s comedy “Anora” won big at the Producers Guild Awards and Directors Guild Awards. This victory makes it a top contender for the Oscars.
This award season has been unpredictable, with many movies vying for the best-picture title. “Anora” was seen as a top choice after winning at the Cannes Film Festival.
After other films had their moment, “Anora” came back strong with wins at the Critics Choice Awards.
At the guild events in Beverly Hills, “Anora” did well. The winner of the Producers Guild Award often matches the Oscar best picture. The Directors Guild Award winner usually goes on to win at the Oscars too.
Oscar voting starts soon. “The Wild Robot” is expected to win best animated film.
