Aston Martin has announced plans to create a special road-legal track version of its Valour sportscar, called the Valiant, which has been personally commissioned by Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso. The Valiant will be a limited edition with only 38 units being produced, featuring a powerful 745PS 5.2 litre twin-turbo V12 engine. This unique car will also include wheel covers inspired by Aston Martin’s historic ‘Muncher’ car that competed at the Le Mans 24 Hours event in 1979.
Alonso expressed his excitement for the project, stating that the Valiant is a result of his passion for pushing limits and delivering an exhilarating driving experience. The car is being built by Aston Martin’s bespoke ‘Q’ production division, allowing owners to customize their vehicles.
This announcement follows Alpine’s decision to build a track-focused version of its Alpine A110 R car named the ‘Alpine A110 R Fernando Alonso’. Alonso, who is set to join Aston Martin in 2023, has committed to a long-term partnership with the team, including an off-track role described as a “lifetime project”.
Aston Martin’s global chief brand and commercial officer, Marco Mattiacci, praised the Valiant as a modern masterpiece, emphasizing its focus on performance, track dynamics, and hypercar intensity. The Valiant represents Aston Martin’s dedication to crafting exceptional cars for passionate drivers.
