Loyola Marymount University is starting its first Innovators Film Festival. This festival will include talks and activities about artificial intelligence (AI).
The festival is free and will be held by LMU’s School of Film and Television. It will show short films made by students. There will also be panels and workshops with people who work in the film industry. They will talk about how to use AI in entertainment safely. An avatar of Reid Hoffman, a LinkedIn co-founder, will give the opening talk. Ben Relles and Parth Patil, who helped make the avatar, will lead the discussion.
Some important people at the festival are Ed Ulbrich from Metaphysic, Sydney Bright from Webtoon, Yoshi Takashima from Sony Pictures, Holly Willis from USC, and Dave Clark from Promise.
Carolyn Giardina from Variety will lead a panel called Women Teaching Tech. This panel will include film school teachers.
The festival will also have interactive demos. Sony will show its XYN software, and Google will showcase its video technology, Veo 2.
The festival will happen on LMU’s Westchester campus.
