Waiting at red lights can be annoying. This is a big problem in Western New York, especially in Buffalo city. But a solution is being rolled out. Technology is being used to improve signal timing. But this will take time.
Buffalo city has over 660 intersections with stop lights. Many are not properly optimized for the best traffic flow. Reporter Michael Wooten has been covering this issue for over a decade. Despite new technology, there’s still a lot of stop-and-go traffic.
However, the city has set up cameras at five major intersections. These cameras detect traffic and change the signal accordingly. The city is working on having similar technology at all other intersections as well.
Traffic signals are an integral part of city commute. Their proper functioning can reduce travel times and fuel usage. Everyone should contribute to this goal by driving responsibly and following traffic rules. This will make the roads safer and faster for all.
