Google has expanded its note-taking app NotebookLM with new features to help researchers, students, and anyone looking to organize information more effectively. Users can now upload Google Slides and web URLs as sources, in addition to Google Docs, PDFs, and text files. The new Notebook Guide can generate study guides, FAQs, and briefing documents based on sources added to NotebookLM. Inline citations allow users to fact-check AI responses by pointing to their own sources, with up to 50 sources per project. Previously limited to five sources, users can now also ask questions about charts, images, and diagrams uploaded to the platform.
Running on Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, NotebookLM’s advanced features provide accurate data interpretation and text summarization. The platform is a closed system, relying solely on user-provided content for answers. Non-profit organizations and authors like Walter Isaacson have already found value in using NotebookLM for research and information organization. While primarily targeting researchers and students, the platform has found unexpected users such as a Dungeons & Dragons dungeon master preparing a campaign.
NotebookLM is available worldwide in over 100 languages, catering to a diverse range of users. The platform’s advanced functionalities and user-friendly interface enhance the research and study experience for individuals across various fields.
