Guillermo del Toro makes great monster movies. He shows us the monsters in a fun way. This new film is based on Mary Shelley’s book about Frankenstein. It tells the story from the creature’s point of view. Jacob Elordi plays the creature. He also tells much of the story.
Oscar Isaac is Victor Frankenstein. He is a strange man who does bad things. The movie is set in 19th century Edinburgh, which looks beautiful. Victor learns how to bring dead bodies back to life.
He gets help from a rich arms dealer played by Christoph Waltz. Many battles give him parts he needs for his experiments. When lightning strikes, the creature comes to life. He is very tall and has a mix of beauty and horror.
The film is full of emotions. It shows the relationship between fathers and their children. Sometimes it feels too intense, but it is interesting. Mia Goth plays a character named Elizabeth, who also gets involved with the creature.
The movie will show at the Venice Film Festival. It will be in UK cinemas on October 17 and on Netflix on November 7.
