A SpaceX rocket launched a Dragon cargo spacecraft towards the International Space Station on 13 October. The Dragon carried more than 6,300 pounds (about 2,860 kilograms) of supplies, equipment, and scientific experiments. The spacecraft is planned to arrive at the space station on Thursday, 15 October. The launch happened at Cape Canaveral in Florida and is the 35th SpaceX resupply mission to the station for the United States space agency NASA.
SpaceX sent this mission to bring important tools and experiments to the space station. Some experiments will help scientists learn if they can make artificial retinas, which could help people with vision problems. Other experiments include 3D models of heart tissue and very small brain-like structures called organoids.
The Dragon spacecraft is also carrying the last two solar arrays planned for the station. This extra equipment will help increase the station’s electricity for research and daily tasks.
