Student leaders in France say they will keep protesting, even after President Emmanuel Macron’s government offered new changes for education. Student protests started because of worries about education, but soon included teachers, public workers, and a group called the “yellow vests” who are known for protesting in France. The government met with students on 26 October and promised to limit the number of students in some classes, give €4 billion for fixing schools, and spend €1 billion on universities.

The main reason for the protest is France’s university admissions system. Many students believe this system is unfair to people from poorer families and less famous schools. The government says it will make big changes to this system next year, and it will create a completely new system by 2028.

Because many students still feel their problems are not solved, they plan to continue protesting. The next large protest will happen on 5 November. French officials are worried that protests might cause more problems in cities and damage public places.
