Get ready Pokémon fans, it’s that special time of the year again! The Pokémon Company is all set to hold another Pokémon Presents livestream to celebrate Pokémon Day 2024.

The event is scheduled for 6am PT / 9am EST / 2pm GMT on February 27, and will be broadcast on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. So, you’re probably wondering, what’s in store for us Pokémon enthusiasts this time around?

Though we already have both parts of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expansion The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero as well as the epilogue, Mochi Mayhem, we’re waiting for fresh announcements about brand new, upcoming games from The Pokémon Company. Maybe we’ll be gifted another remake? Could it be time for Black and White to shine again? Perhaps a sequel to Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Or might we get introduced to a completely new spin-off?

Pokémon games are typically released on Nintendo platforms, so with the latest gossip about the Nintendo Switch 2 being delayed to 2025, we can safely assume that the next Pokémon game will launch only on the Nintendo Switch. Generally, new Pokémon games tend to come out in November. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for that!

News of the livestream comes amid criticism of the developer, Game Freak, for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet which received only a 6/10 score from IGN. This rating was based on the promising but flawed open-world gameplay and a range of other issues including a poor PvE experience and several glitches. The quality concern has led The Pokémon Company to discuss quality maintenance despite their ongoing release schedule.

Despite the critique, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were commercially successful, selling an impressive 24.36 million copies up till the end of 2023. Pokémon Sword and Shield, released in 2019, faired even better moving a whopping 26.17 million copies.

So Pokémon fans, mark your calendars for Pokémon Day 2024 and get ready for some fresh excitement, updates and surprises directly from the world of Pokémon. Stay tuned!
