Stardew Valley 1.6 Update Proves Long-Standing Fan Theory Is Accurate

Stardew Valley fans are feeling vindicated after the game’s creator, Eric Barone, confirmed a peculiar fact: harvesting crops from left to right is faster than from right to left. This strange bug, present since the game’s launch in 2016, will finally be addressed. Fans have been eagerly awaiting since 2022 for the potential amelioration of this issue in the upcoming 1.6 update, slated for release on March 19 for PCs.The update is set to introduce new content and make the game simpler to modify, besides fixing old bugs. Barone has been actively sharing patch notes and snippets to whet the appetite of fans counting down to its arrival. The change confirms what many players have intuited over the years.

Barone candidly confirmed via a tweet that a bug, causing harvesting to be quicker from left-to-right, than the opposite, will be fixed in the update. The longstanding error has finally been recognized, confirming fans’ speculation. The left-facing harvest animation was 100ms longer, and the update will equalize the speeds from both sides, putting an end to a Stardew Valley conspiracy theory that has floated around for almost a decade.

With the resolution of this issue in sight, all players will soon harvest at the same speed, regardless of their chosen direction.
