The movie ‘Wicked’ had a great global debut, making $165M so far. Most of this money, $117M, came from North America. The rest, $48M, was made at international box offices.
‘Wicked’ is a really popular Broadway show. Now, the movie has had the biggest opening weekend ever for a Broadway adaptation. It beat ‘Les Miserables’ which made $103M. Now ‘Wicked’ has the fourth biggest opening weekend for any musical.
‘Wicked’ came out in 61 countries so far, but not in big countries like France and China. Yet, it is already really popular and making a lot of money.
In the UK, it’s the number one movie. Fans love seeing Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (Glinda). The movie made over $15M in the UK.
In Australia, Mexico, and Korea, ‘Wicked’ is also number one. It had the biggest opening day ever for a musical stage adaptation in Mexico.
The movie ‘Gladiator II’ is also doing really well overseas. If you add up all the countries, it made over $200M.
