Players of the popular video game, Call of Duty, are upset over a new cosmetic item’s high price. This item, known as the B.E.A.S.T Glove, is connected to the recent film, Godzilla X Kong: New Empire. Fans have to pay $80 to own this in-game accessory, which critics say reflects the excessive costs of cosmetic items in video games.
The glove was added to Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare III as part of a crossover with the movie. Molded after King Kong’s robo-arm, this new melee weapon can be used by Warzone soldiers.
However, to get this glove, players need to buy four different DLC packs, each costing $20. It can’t be earned by traditional gaming methods such as winning matches or getting kills. Therefore, depending on a player’s earnings, acquiring the B.E.A.S.T Glove could take the monetary equivalent of more than a day of work.
The outrage extends beyond the glove’s price tag as many players are dissatisfied with its performance. Although the total $80 charge includes other cosmetics and weapons, the growing acceptance of such high-priced game add-ons concerns many in the gaming community.
