Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day criticized the A’s owners at a concert in San Francisco. He called out John Fisher for moving the team to Las Vegas, a city he strongly dislikes. Armstrong, who was born in Oakland, is a big supporter of the East Bay.
The A’s played their last games at the Oakland Coliseum, ending their long history in the area. Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen, also from the East Bay, joined Armstrong in criticizing Fisher. They both prefer the Giants, who have remained in San Francisco.
Armstrong has a history of speaking out, like at a music festival in Las Vegas in 2012. He got upset about the short performance time and smashed his guitar on stage. Fans can learn about Green Day’s punk history at the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas.
