Guillermo Del Toro’s Failed Sequel to Horror’s Greatest Classic

Share

Many people are sad that some of Guillermo del Toro’s films were never made. He had great ideas, like the movie based on H.P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness” and “Hellboy 3.” However, these projects did not happen. One idea that makes fans upset is “The Exorcist 4.” Del Toro wanted to work on this after his film “Mimic.”

In a 2006 interview, he spoke about “Exorcist: Chapter 4 Verse I.” This film would follow Father Merrin. He would investigate a priest’s death caused by a possessed child in the Vatican. Del Toro described it as a very exciting story.

He had a meeting about the film. The studio liked the idea but said there should be no exorcism. Del Toro thought this was strange because it was called “The Exorcist.”

Today, there are new plans for the “Exorcist” series, but many still wish to see del Toro’s version.
