China’s Robot Companies Invest Billions in Smarter Humanoids
Follow spoken words in real time.
Chinese robotic companies are spending a lot of money to develop new artificial intelligence, or AI, for humanoid robots. Their goal is to help robots learn by themselves and work in different places, like homes, factories, and hospitals. In 2026, companies making this type of AI in China received about $13 billion from investors.
The main reason for this big spending is that Chinese companies want robots to do useful tasks without needing instructions for every action. For example, a good household robot should know how to pick up new objects safely, even if it has never seen them before. This needs AI that can learn from experience, so companies are teaching robots by showing them tasks and using sensors and computer programmes.
Because of the large investments, experts think robots in China might become much smarter and more useful soon. If this technology works well, Chinese companies could use these robots to improve factories or hospitals, making work faster and easier.
