SpaceX Plans to Power AI With Solar Energy in Space
Follow spoken words in real time.
SpaceX, an American space company led by Elon Musk, plans to create a network of data centres in space using special computers from NVIDIA. The project is called Starmind. SpaceX says it hopes to launch its first AI1 satellites in 2027. These satellites will use solar energy for power and will be able to communicate with Earth through the Starlink satellite network.
SpaceX wants to put artificial intelligence computing in space because it can use solar power directly and avoid needing big power stations or data centres on Earth. This could help artificial intelligence grow faster and use more energy without harming the environment.
The main result is that SpaceX will test if powerful computers can work well in space. The company says the first step is to launch the new AI1 satellites and see if they can operate as planned outside Earth.
