US Support for Iran War Falls to Record-Low 31%
Follow spoken words in real time.
A new poll from Reuters and Ipsos shows that only 31% of people in the United States now support the war in Iran. This is the lowest level of support since the fighting began on 28 February 2026. The poll ended in late August 2026, as the war had continued for six months without any clear result.
The main reason for this drop in support is the rising price of petrol in the United States. Since the conflict began, Iran has stopped many oil exports, causing petrol prices to go up more than one dollar per gallon. This has made daily life more expensive for many Americans.
Because of these higher costs, President Donald Trump’s approval rating has also fallen. The latest poll shows only 33% of people now support the president, which is the lowest number of his presidency.
