The Next Narrative Africa Fund (NNAF) is working with Parrot Analytics on a new study about entertainment in Africa. This study will help NNAF choose its first grantees.
NNAF is a new fund that started in 2024. It has $40 million for commercial content and an extra $10 million for a non-profit project. This fund aims to support African and Diasporan stories.
The partnership with Parrot Analytics will help NNAF use data to make better choices. This data will help them decide on six to ten projects from 2,000 applications. The results will be announced in March.
Kunna Cook, the founder of NNAF, says many think African content is risky because of bias, not facts. She believes this partnership will change that. Wared Seger, the CEO of Parrot Analytics, agrees. He says the partnership will show that African stories have global interest.
The study will look at how much African content is watched and where. It will show the value of African entertainment to investors and help grow the creative economy in Africa.
