Paul Reubens was known as Pee-wee Herman. He was an actor. A new film called “Pee-wee as Himself” has been shown. In this film, Reubens says he is gay.

He talks about a time when he lived with a painter called Guy. Years later, Guy got very sick with AIDS. Reubens was scared of the disease.

Reubens also talks about the time his father found out he was gay. His father wrote him a kind letter. Reubens had some problems in his life. He was caught doing bad things. But, he says he is not a bad person.

The man who made the film, Matt Wolf, agreed with Reubens. He said, “I am gay too. I understand how hard it was for him.”

Sadly, Reubens died. He was sick with cancer for six years. His fans were sad. They remember him as being funny and kind. He is also remembered for playing the character Pee-wee Herman.

Reubens played Pee-wee in a TV show and a film. People loved Pee-wee and Reubens was happy to make people laugh. He said, “I liked making art for you”.
