Recall issued for Ford F-150 and Tesla Cybertruck models

Share

Two popular truck brands are facing recall issues related to transmissions, windshield wipers, and exterior trim. Ford is recalling over 552,000 pickup trucks in the U.S. due to a transmission problem that could cause the vehicles to downshift unexpectedly. Tesla has also issued recalls for more than 11,000 Cybertrucks for potential windshield wiper and exterior trim issues.

The Ford recall affects certain 2014 F-150 trucks, with downshifting potentially causing the rear tires to slide or lock up, increasing the risk of a crash. Despite this issue, the F-150 has remained the top-selling truck in the U.S. for many years.

According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford attributed the transmission problem to a signal loss between the transmission sensor and powertrain control module. Two injury complaints related to this issue have been reported to Ford.

Ford is expected to have a fix available in the third quarter of the year, with notification letters to be sent out after July 1. Owners experiencing issues before the fix can visit dealers for service.

In the case of the Cybertrucks, Tesla identified electrical issues affecting the front windshield wiper and improperly installed trim pieces that could become road hazards. Tesla plans to replace wiper motors and secure trim pieces to prevent further incidents, with notifications set to be sent out starting August 18.

Despite these recalls, Tesla remains in the spotlight for its unique design features, with the Cybertruck attracting significant attention since its launch in November.
