Rosie O’Donnell has publicly addressed the troubling circumstances surrounding her eldest daughter’s third arrest within a mere three-month span.
On November 18, Chelsea O’Donnell, 27, was apprehended in Marinette County, Wisconsin, facing multiple serious charges, including two felony counts for possessing methamphetamine, another felony count for possessing narcotic drugs, as well as two counts of bail jumping, according to People magazine.
Additionally, she is confronted with four misdemeanors pertaining to resisting or obstructing a police officer, possessing an illegally obtained prescription, and having drug paraphernalia.
Confronting the situation head-on, Rosie took to Instagram to express her concerns regarding her daughter’s ongoing battle with addiction, emphasizing her hope that Chelsea may receive the necessary support to overcome her struggles.
“Indeed, this is true,” the 62-year-old actress and comedian began in her post, sharing a screenshot of a media inquiry about Chelsea’s recent arrest. “After being bailed out by her birth mother, Chelsea was apprehended yet again, facing numerous charges tied to her addiction. We all fervently wish for her to find the help she desperately needs to reclaim her life—#drug-addiction #tragic #sadness #truth.”
This most recent incident marks Chelsea’s third detainment within a troublingly brief timeframe. Previously, she was arrested on September 10 and October 11 for similar drug-related offenses and a felony charge of child neglect, as reported by People.
On September 24, she was released from Marinette County Jail after posting a $2,000 bond, yet her freedom was short-lived.
Following her release, Chelsea was again taken into custody in October and booked into Oconto County Jail, facing charges strikingly similar to those stemming from her latest arrest.
She has pleaded not guilty to the allegations from her September 10 incident, with a scheduled arraignment on December 11 for the charges incurred on November 18.
Her next court appearance is slated for January 27, 2025.
Rosie previously shared her thoughts in October following Chelsea’s second arrest, reflecting on their family’s ongoing struggles with addiction: “Chelsea is in the news today—this photo captures better times,” she lamented, showcasing an image of Chelsea with a newborn. “Sadly, this struggle is not new for us. Chelsea has battled addiction for a decade; we hope she can navigate her way out of this perilous disease.”
Rosie adopted Chelsea shortly after her birth in 1997, alongside her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. The couple also adopted three other children: sons Parker and Blake, and daughter Vivienne. Later, Rosie adopted another daughter, Dakota, with her second spouse, Michelle Rounds.
