CNN says that Steve Mensch sadly died in a plane crash on Friday night. He was the boss of Tyler Perry Studios. The crash happened in Citrus County, Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol found Mensch at the crash site just after 8 p.m. They said he was the only person in the plane. Mensch was 62 years old and lived in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Tyler Perry Studios sent an email to CNN. They said: “We are very sad because Steve Mensch died. We really loved Steve. He was part of our team for more than 8 years. It will be hard not to see him smiling in the hallways. He will be missed. We are praying for his family.”
Mensch took care of the daily business at Tyler Perry Studios. This is a big studio in Atlanta, Georgia. He once showed CNN around the studio. He said that it is the only major movie studio on the East Coast. He liked the mix of old and new at the studio.
The governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, shared his sorrow on social media. He said that Mensch was a good man. He praised him for helping Georgia’s film industry.
Kemp on social media: “Mensch was a big part of a studio that Georgia is proud of. He made our state better and created more jobs for its people. His loved ones and the Tyler Perry Studios team are in our thoughts and prayers.”
