Later this month, a special 1973 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS car will be sold at an auction. This car once belonged to Peter Grant, the manager of the famous band Led Zeppelin.
What makes this car so special is that it only has 1,007 miles on its speedometer. This means it hasn’t been used much. It is also one of only 235 cars of this type that were sold in the United Kingdom from 1972 to 1974. It was delivered to Peter Grant in 1973. The car had a unique ‘Rosso Bordeaux’ paint color and a classic brown leather interior. There are only 114 cars with this type of paint and leather combination.
In the years it was driven, the car was well taken care of. It received important repairs and improvements such as rebuilding its suspension and brakes, installing a stronger motor starter, and a complete overhaul of the radiator.
Yet, the car still has its original wheels, controls, and instruments. More importantly, all the car’s historical documents will be included in the sale. The documents include letters with the Ferrari factory in Italy and an original logbook with Peter Grant’s name on it.
The auction will be held online by a company called Car & Classic. The auction will start on February 22 and end on February 29. It is estimated that the car will sell for a price between £275,000 and £350,000.
According to Dale Vinten, who works at Car & Classic, this car is not just a vehicle. But it is also a part of rock history because it belonged to Peter Grant. It is a great piece of memorabilia for any fan of Led Zeppelin.
