My favorite revenge movie is *The Crow*, made in 1994. I love it so much that I won’t watch the 2024 remake or the bad sequels. When a friend urged me to see *Wicked Prayer* from 2005, I decided to watch all the films after 1994 in one go.
I usually like films that are bad but sincere. However, I was shocked after watching *City of Angels*, *Salvation*, *Wicked Prayer*, and the 2024 remake. Each film seemed worse than the last and did not have the charm of the original.
City of Angels (1996)
This sequel is almost the same story as the first film, but with new actors. It takes place in Los Angeles and follows Ashe, who seeks revenge. Sadly, Ashe lacks the same charisma as the original character, Eric Draven.
Salvation (2000)
*Salvation* was my favorite sequel. It has a different story and attempts something new. But, it becomes confusing with too many side characters.
Wicked Prayer (2005)
*Wicked Prayer* is not good. Edward Furlong’s character complains a lot, unlike Eric Draven, who fought for his revenge. This film felt like a letdown.
The Crow (2024)
I hoped the remake would be better, but it had pacing issues. It takes too long to show Eric Draven’s death. Although the visuals are nice, the story lacks energy.
In conclusion, no other film series has struggled like this one. The original *The Crow* was perfect and will always stand out. The sequels just missed the point.
