Ryan Coogler Unveils David Jonsson as New Black Panther

David Jonsson has been cast as the new Black Panther. This announcement was made by director Ryan Coogler during Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. Jonsson will portray T’Challa’s son in “Black Panther 3,” which is set to release on 15 December 2028. Coogler will return to direct the third film in the series.

After Coogler announced the news, Jonsson expressed his gratitude for joining the team but added he wanted the film to speak for itself. The audience responded with loud applause.

In the first Black Panther film, T’Challa was played by Chadwick Boseman, who sadly passed away from colon cancer in 2020. His role was partially taken over in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” by Letitia Wright, who played Shuri, T’Challa’s sister. With Jonsson’s casting, it appears the story of Black Panther is truly being passed on.

Jonsson’s character, Prince T’Challa II, was first introduced in the second Black Panther movie. In the upcoming film, he will come of age and take on more responsibility. David Jonsson is known for roles in Stephen King’s “The Long Walk” and “Industry.”

In other casting news, Ryan Gosling will star in the upcoming Ghost Rider film, which is also set for 2028. The film will be directed by Shawn Levy.
