Capcom’s Masachika Kawata spoke about the many Resident Evil remakes in recent years. He noted that there have not been many spin-off games.
Fans now enjoy new Resident Evil games. These games are popular with players and reviewers. In addition to new games, Capcom releases remakes of older titles.
Kawata explained that remakes help keep the franchise going. He said this allows the team to improve their skills. He added that making a new game every year would be very hard. Remakes help them release a game each year and also challenge the team.
Fans are happy with the remakes, but some want spin-offs. Kawata said the team does not have enough resources to create more spin-offs. He mentioned that the team is working hard on new games and remakes.
Resident Evil Requiem was released earlier this year. It is available on Nintendo Switch 2. Another remake, Resident Evil Veronica, will come out in 2027.
