Cheering for Joel, the Helldivers 2 Developer Guiding the Space War Like a Game Master in D&D.

Just a few days ago, fans of the game Helldivers 2 were sad because they lost a favorite game map called Malevelon Creek. However, now they have got some interesting news. A single game maker at Arrowhead is managing the huge galactic war in the game, just like a guide in the game Dungeons & Dragons.

Arrowhead’s boss, Johan Pilestedt, spoke to PC Gamer about it. He said that a man named Joel is controlling everything behind the scenes. “Joel has a job titled Game Master,” Pilestedt added. He explains that the Game Master has a lot of power in this game. The role is always changing based on the events in the game.

Players of Helldivers 2 have always wondered how the “liberation” of the galaxy works. Players can see changes in the game based on their actions. But now they understand that Joel is planning and controlling everything.

Sometimes things in the game do not go as planned. “For example, if a planet was too easy or too tough, Joel would wake up in the middle of the night and make adjustments,” said Pilestedt.

After this news, the gaming community has turned Joel into a meme. After the loss of Malevelon Creek, players think Joel could be the reason behind it.

Despite all of this, the players are having fun with the game. There are no real rewards tied to the sectors’ liberation in the game. But the thrill comes in discovering new challenges and surprises each day.

Lastly, Pilestedt mentioned on his Twitter post about Joel’s role. He explained that Joel decides the main order, the active day, and where the enemies attack. But Pilestedt made sure to clarify that the players are the ones fighting and freeing the planets, not Joel. They added that they can also add extra equipment for the community when needed.
