Manchester Music Festival Unveils Stellar Lineup for Final Weeks

MANCHESTER — The last two weeks of the Manchester Music Festival are here. This season’s theme is “Music & Storytelling.” The festival will have great guest artists. Emmy Award winner David Strathairn and Grammy winner Christine Goerke will perform. There will also be programs with work by Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Powers.

These final events will be enjoyable for everyone.

“What makes the Manchester Music Festival special is its close and magical feeling,” said David Whitehill, the Executive Director. “Musicians talk through their music, and everyone has an important part.”

You can still enjoy world-class music in Manchester, Vermont. There are two Thursday Night Mainstage concerts and one last performance by MMF’s Young Artists. There are also two free community programs.

Thursday Night Mainstage Performances

Music Inspired by Song and Birdsong: July 31, 7:30 p.m.

Enjoy a special program with Birding by Ear. Musicians will play works by Müller, Beethoven, and Schubert.

Grand Finale: August 7, 7:30 p.m.

The festival ends with a performance of Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale. Christine Goerke and David Strathairn will participate.

Young Artists Concert

Concert #3, Chamber Music: August 3, 5:00 p.m.

Ten Young Artists will show their talent in a final chamber music performance.

Community Programs

Discovery Program, “Birding By Ear”: July 29, 5:00 p.m.

Composer Perry Goldstein and musicians will talk about Birding by Ear.

Family Program, “The Story of Babar”: August 2, 11:00 a.m.

Actor Paul Nassivera will tell the story of Babar the Elephant with music. This event is fun for families.
